Next Steps

After much talking and praying, Chris and I have plotted out our “next steps” in the journey to the School of Work and Prayer.

1. Since many of you and others in the St. Croix Valley area can already mentor us in the arts of self-sufficient sanctifying work and prayer, we have decided to stay right here in our home on Stillwater Ave.

2. We continue to need study of Church teachings on rural issues and prayer. To that end, we are about to launch the Catholic Rural Issues discussion group. The group’s first assignment is to meet weekly to take part in Archbishop Flynn’s “Evangelization Initiative” during Lent. After Lent, our plan is to meet once a month to study Fr. Dubay’s PRAYER PRIMER. If you would like to join us for either group, please contact us.

3. We will continue a project we began when we moved to “Nativity House” (the name of our house on Stillwater Ave.) – to complete a 5-year “self-sufficient suburban garden” plan that will help us to grow and preserve much of our food at home. Please let us know if you can and would like to help as a Garden or Food Preservation Advisor.

On the School of Work and Prayer
There will be a garden of prayer
And some will draw water from the well
To water the garden of prayer
Some will drink the dews and rains
That water the garden of prayer
Some will contemplate with joy
The spring bubbling up in its midst
To water the garden of prayer
The water is the living water
Life for all in the garden of prayer
